Deal Coastal Flood Defence Boost

It is welcome news that substantial new investment has been made to boost Deal’s coastal flood defences.

The investment will see beaches bolstered to strengthen sea defences all the way from Sandown Castle through Walmer to Kingsdown and Oldstairs Bay. The Government’s investment of £350,000 is part of a long-standing investment programme in Deal’s coastal and flood defences.

This investment will help protect homes and businesses in Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown from the dangers of coastal erosion and flooding in the years to come. It is a vote of confidence in our town and will also ensure the beach is in top condition for visitors and residents alike to enjoy.

The Deal flood defence wall was constructed at a cost of over £10million. Keeping the beach topped up ensures that those defences will remain fully effective for many years to come.
