Welcoming new electric buses to Dover

I welcomed the announcement from the Transport Secretary that Kent will be receiving £9.5 million for new electric buses and electric charging infrastructure. The Transport Secretary especially praised myself and Dover District Council for making the case for zero emission buses in Kent. The funding will go on 33 new single decker electric buses in Kent, which will include the new Dover Fastrack bus link from Whitfield to Dover Town Centre.

The first part of the Dover Fastrack route is coming on line as part of the Dover Inland Border Facility work at the White Cliffs Business Park. The new Dover Fastrack service will be among the first zero emission bus services in Kent.

Following the hard work of myself, Dover District Council and Kent County Council, I am delighted we have got the funding to deliver the new Dover Fastrack electric bus service.

These electric buses will be so much cleaner and greener. This is great news for our area as it will improve local transport and air quality.

This funding shows real confidence in our area. I look forward to seeing everyone being able to enjoy these new zero emission, electric buses.
