Hailing reintroduction of hourly high speed trains to Deal

I have welcomed the reintroduction of all day hourly high speed trains to Deal and the villages. The service restarts in December.

The high speed train service was reduced during the pandemic. Following the end of lockdown, I have been pressing rail bosses to reintroduce the regular high speed train services to Deal, Walmer and Martin Mill. I have now received confirmation from Southeastern Trains that from December regular Off-Peak high speed services will be reintroduced, in addition to the peak hour services.

It’s great that all day high-speed train services for Deal, Walmer and Martin Mill will return next month. This is a great early Christmas present for our community.

So many people travel on the high speed service. It was really important to get the service back up and running all day. That’s why I have been pressing rail chiefs and I’m delighted they have listened. It is really important we show that we do want and use these services locally so I hope that people will take advantage of the upgraded high speed services in the coming weeks.
