Welcoming new Cancer treatment on the NHS

I am pleased to welcome the new ground-breaking drug, atezolizumab to the NHS. The drug has the potential to significantly reduce the risk of cancer returning. Lung cancer patients can now have access to this new innovative treatment which can save lives.

This is evidence the Government’s commitment to the NHS, to earlier cancer detection and improved cancer care.

Alongside the Buckland Hospital’s dedicated diagnostic facilities, it is welcome news to hear that a new treatment is available on the NHS for people with lung cancer. This will help deliver better healthcare, with world-class patient treatment and ultimately save more lives.
