Recently I welcomed the Government’s extra funding of over £30,000 to Dover District Council to provide vital support services for people who have suffered domestic abuse, helping families recover and rebuild their lives.
The Government is providing money to councils across England to make sure that safe accommodation spaces, such as refuges and shelters, can be provided alongside vital support services including healthcare, social workers.
The funding received from the Government will help the council to increase domestic abuse support, allowing them to choose how the funding is spent to match local priorities and benefit those in need.
It is welcome to see over £30,000 secured by Dover District Council. I hope that this extra money will make a real difference to local people and their children who have suffered domestic violence.
