Congratulating TechFort on passing £1 million funding hurdle

I have welcomed news that Citadel TechFort Casemate project on the western heights has passed a funding hurdle that will see it get financial support of over £1 million from the Government’s Getting Building Fund.

The TechFort Group is working to redevelop Dover’s Citadel into a cutting-edge and world-renowned technology, skills and education hub. The Casemate project will support an ecosystem of start-ups and early-stage technology firms and large corporates, providing a place for work, collaboration, networking, learning and growing new businesses. The Citadel will give opportunities for local businesses such as The Wrong End of Town in Dover, which will use the space for creative workshops and also offer accessible space for up-and-coming creatives to rent on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. This will include space used for a multifunctional gallery.

I have been a long-term supporter of the Citadel project at the Western Heights, having visited the Citadel on a number of occasions and met with David De Min, who is leading the project.

Congratulations to David de Min and the TechFort team for passing the funding hurdle for its £1million Getting Building funding award. The Government’s programme is intended to support the delivery of projects which are ready to go to boost economic growth, and fuel local recovery and jobs.

The Citadel’s Casemate programme offers a great opportunity to support employment, skills and educational opportunities across the Dover and Deal area. I look forward to visiting TechFort at The Citadel’s new Casemate and seeing those opportunities realised for the benefit of our whole area.

  • The Getting Building Fund is a £900 million government programme to deliver jobs, skills and infrastructure across the country. In June 2020, Local Enterprise Partnerships were invited to put forward projects for the Getting Building Fund. Specifically, the Government were looking for shovel-ready capital projects which can be delivered within 18 months. Find more information about the South East Local Enterprise Partnerships here:
