Paying tribute to Merchant Seafarers

Today is National Merchant Navy Day, a day to honour the brave men and women of the Merchant Navy, including those who lost their lives at times of war, and to recognise all those who work on our seas and in our port

On National Merchant Navy Day, I took part in a well attended service and ceremony held at the Merchant Navy War Memorial on Marine Parade.

This was arranged by the Chairman of Dover District Council, Cllr Mike Conolly, along with the Founder of the Dover and District Merchant Navy Memorial Fund, Mr Donald Hunter
