In the build up to UK Parliament Week, I was invited to meet the year 6 children at Aycliffe Community Primary School by 10 year old Scarlett Smith, who Natalie met last year to discuss Scarlett’s amazing fundraising for local charities.
I spoke to the pupils about my role representing the community as their Member of Parliament, as well as holding a mock election and a House of Commons-style question and answer session. I was also given a tour of the school by Headteacher, Mrs Cox, and Deputy Headteacher, Mr Price.
It was such a pleasure to visit Aycliffe Community Primary School and have a chance to discuss representation with the Year 6 children. They asked brilliant questions and clearly care deeply about their community and the issues that are important to them.
I very much enjoyed the tour of the school and was so impressed by the commitment of the teachers, including their inspiring displays and beautifully laid out classrooms.
Thank you Aycliffe Community Primary School for a fantastic morning.
