Dover & Deal MP Natalie Elphicke welcomes pensions boost

Dover & Deal MP Natalie Elphicke has welcomed the news that more than 22,300 pensioners across Dover, Deal and the villages will receive a 10% increase in their Basic State Pension from this month. This increase is the biggest ever cash increase in the state pension and will automatically be applied to pensions.

It continues the Conservative Government’s direct support for pensioners, particularly the many pensioners who are on fixed incomes.

Natalie Elphicke MP said:

“Looking after older people in our community is so important. I’ve fought hard to protect the triple lock – ensuring that pensioners receive a record 10% pensions increase, speaking up on this issue to the Chancellor and other Ministers. It’s a welcome pension boost for more than 22,000 pensioners across our Dover & Deal community.”

Commenting, Pensions Minister, Laura Trott said:

“The effect of rising prices has been particularly challenging for the most vulnerable pensioners many of whom live on fixed incomes.

“That is why the Conservative Government has delivered on our commitment to protect the Triple Lock, giving 12.5 million pensioners an inflationary increase in their pension payments of 10.1 per cent from April.

“Protecting pensioners’ incomes from the effects of rising prices is a central part of our Conservative commitment to supporting the most vulnerable as we deliver on the Prime Minister’s five priorities.”
