Natalie met with owners of the Oriental Mini-Mart in Dover’s Market Square to celebrate the contribution of this shop to the area.
The Oriental Mini-Mart, run by Neil and Lorna Wiggins, provides an exciting range of Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino and other oriental groceries. As well as catering for local culinary tastes, it’s a popular favourite with cruise ships and seafarers who dock in Dover from around the world.
Visiting the shop in Market Square, opposite the new multi-million pound Market Square pedestrian upgrade, Natalie said: “I’m a keen supporter of local shops so it’s brilliant to see local businesses thriving and bringing new experiences and interest to Dover town. There’s a wonderful range of different foods available at the Oriental Mini-Mart – including my firm favourites mango biscuits, ginger tea and fortune cookies. It’s colourful, has lots of tasty recipe ideas and is well worth popping in and taking a look around.”
Following the visit, Lorna Wiggins of the Oriental Mini Mart said: “It’s really nice of Natalie to support shops likes ours. It was a big decision to buy the shop but it’s very worthwhile to be able to provide familiar foods for seafarers arriving to the Port, as well as local people. I love cooking and sharing my favourite food ideas. The Market Square development has provided a lovely backdrop for families and older people to stop for a moment. When they stop a while longer and pop into our shop, that’s even better!”
